Welcome
Plymouth Employment and Skills Board (ESB) is an employer led voluntary body established in 2008.
Primarily, its remit is to engage both private and public sector employers in the development and delivery of the local employment and skills strategy. Being employer led, the ESB aims to ensure that skills, training and employment in the city is driven by the needs of local employers and the workforce, as well as future economic growth.
Its main purposes are
* To identify and articulate local strategic skills priorities and needs.
* To raise demand for and investment in skills provision related to these priorities and needs.
Plymouth ESB includes representatives from employers across a wide range of industries, including the 6 priority sectors identified in the Local Economic Strategy: Business Services, Medical/Healthcare, Tourism and Leisure, Marine Industries and Advanced Engineering.
Under the Chairmanship of Dr Graham Stirling, CBE, Managing Director of the Barden Corporation (UK) Ltd, Plymouth ESB is actively supported by a range of public sector partners including Plymouth City Council, Jobcentre Plus, Government Office for the South West, as well as the University of Plymouth and City College Plymouth. The Board’s Project Director is Graham Morris.
In addition to information about the Board and its activities, Plymouth ESB reports and data surveys are available for download on this website. The Board’s sister site www.workinplymouth.com provides support information to businesses and individuals affected by the current economic situation.
